Homoeopathy?

Homoeopathy is a holistic complementary medicine that can work alongside orthodox medicine to provide the best service to the patient or client. Homoeopathy has been established for over 200 years and is an effective and scientific system of healing that assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. It is founded on the belief that it is the whole person, the patient who needs treatment, not the disease and I take special account of the mental and emotional state of the patient to find the remedy that is right for you, matching the nature of you and your symptoms. Homoeopathic remedies are safe, non addictive and non-toxic.

Who & what can be treated

Homoeopathy can effectively treat long-term chronic problems as well as more acute ailments. The whole family can benefit from treatment: Women (e.g. infertility, pregnancy, post-birth ailments, both emotionally and physically, the menopause, fatigue, Osteoporosis, phobias and anxiety). Children (e.g. behavioural problems, sleep problems, skin conditions, childhood illnesses, respiratory conditions, stomach bugs). Babies (e.g. colic, teething, thrush, cradle cap, allergies, vaccination side effects or alternatives). Men (e.g. stress, impotence, digestive disorders, headaches, insomnia and hayfever, injuries, high blood pressure, alcoholism and periods of change.) Many people come to a homoeopath for constitutional treatment, which boosts the immune system, strengthens vitality and decreases susceptibility to disease, thus improving general health and it can support us when changes happen in our lives. A precise remedy should not only deal with the presenting problem, but enhance the patient’s overall energy and wellbeing.

The Treatment/My Practice

A first visit usually lasts between 60-90 minutes (for adults) and 45-60 minutes for children. Thereafter, appointments will generally last 60 minutes for adults and 30 minutes for children. My consultations allow time to gain an understanding of what you wish to change and take full account of all aspects of your situation. I practice in a way that recognises the complex demands of modern life; therefore I will need to ask you about your presenting condition(s), as well as your general physical, mental and emotional characteristics. A homoeopathic appointment is your opportunity to be heard, to discuss worries and concerns in a supportive and confidential environment. Appointments will be at intervals to suit your needs and the complexity of your case, initially you may need to visit around once a month, however, the frequency will reduce as you make progress. Homoeopathy is an ongoing process. Remedies are given in liquid or more usually, in pill form. Full instructions of how to take the remedies will be provided with each prescription. Homoeopathic remedies work well alongside many drugs. You should not suddenly stop taking your prescription drugs without first speaking to your GP or consultant.

Charges

Adults - £40 for first appointment, £35 thereafter. Babies and children up to 18 - £30 for first appointment, £25 thereafter. Charges include remedies and any postage + packaging. (The only exception to this will be flower essences and tinctures, where a small additional charge may be made.) Home visits outside of the Knowle/Totterdown area of Bristol may incur a small additional charge to cover travel costs. 24 hours notice should be given for changes in appointments to avoid cancellation charges.

About Me

I graduated from The Centre of Homoeopathic Education in 2004 and moved to Bristol in 2005. I am a Member of the Alliance of Registered Homoeopaths (www.a-r-h.org) - one of the regulators in homoeopathy and I abide by their code and ethics of practice. I am continually enhancing my practice through postgraduate study and I have a mentor/supervisor who I can call if I feel the need to seek advice. I can assure absolute confidentiality at all times.
