Rehab Coaching & Yoga Therapy
If pain or functional limitations are diminishing your quality of life, and you’re struggling to find the way forward, you are not alone! Personalized rehab coaching or yoga therapy offers support and compassion combined with strategic guidance toward your wants and goals informed by my years of experience working as a physical therapist, yoga therapist, and as a person who has had to recover from multiple surgeries and navigate persistent pain.
So what's the difference? Rehab coaching is a good fit if you're dealing with pain, recovering from surgery, or trying to bridge the gap between formal physical therapy and feeling fully like yourself again. It draws on my PT background to help you make sense of what's happening in your body, build a movement practice that supports your recovery, and navigate the often-confusing space between "discharged from PT" and "actually doing great." Yoga therapy, on the other hand, incorporates the tools of yoga — movement (asana), breathwork, and mindfulness — in a therapeutic and highly individualized way. It's less about fitness or flexibility and more about using yoga as a framework for understanding and working with your body, whether you're managing a chronic condition, rebuilding trust with your body after pain or injury, or simply wanting more ease in how you move and feel day to day. The two can overlap, and honestly, so can the people who benefit from them — if you're not sure which fits your situation, that's a completely normal place to start, and we can figure it out together.
Some reasons you might try private coaching or yoga therapy
You have completed physical therapy but still have gaps from what you can do and what you want or need to do.
You are pre or post-op and have concerns or want education and/or advice.
You have an injury (new or lingering) or an obnoxious mystery pain has popped up and you need advice on next steps.
You are struggling with a type of movement you want or need to do (like getting up and down off the floor, walking without a limp, running/jumping, navigating stairs, reaching overhead for items, etc).
Fear or uncertainty about how to approach desired activities (like if you’re afraid of dead lifts)
Systemic pain - Hypermobility, autoimmune disease, cancer, complex regional pain syndrome, etc
You coach or instruct others and want to build confidence working with those experiencing pain.
You simply want to better understand how pain works.
Any other reason you’ve got!
