Knee Spree

I've had six knee surgeries of increasing complexity and increasing length of recovery. One thing I've learned first-hand is that knees don't magically get better with rest. My experience has been that I cannot massage or stretch or straight-leg-raise my way to increased knee range of motion and decreased pain.

So what helps? Capacity-building helps -- especially building the capacity to take knees past toes. In this 3-hour, 3-part course, I’ll share progressive techniques for increasing knee capacity, including range of motion and the ability to do functional tasks like get on and off the floor, squat, ascend and descend stairs, jump, etc. We'll also cover basic biomechanics around how these techniques help, and you will have access to a handout with a list of exercises covered in each section for reference.

Once you've purchased the course, you will have immediate access to all course materials indefinitely.
If you are a yoga teacher, you can receive 3 CEUs for this course.

A note about pricing:

I recognize that every person’s financial situation is different (and changes over time), and that barriers to access to money and other resources are often systemic in nature. I have benefited from consistent access to yoga, fitness, and healthcare resources for my entire life, and I want my work to be available to anyone that feels connected to my offerings. At the same time, I value the time, energy, and resources that go into producing this work, and it feels right that I should be able to cover my costs and also receive compensation for my efforts! This has led me to adopt sliding scale pricing for my membership as well as all series and courses.

Sliding scale pricing is a way to leverage privilege to support one another in community, where a service is offered at multiple price points to accommodate the financial circumstances of the purchaser. This pricing method provides an option for those that might typically be priced out of something to take part, and it’s one tool seeking to address systemic class inequality.

I ask that you reflect sincerely about your proximity to economic privilege and the access you have to resources, and pay what you are able in order to support access for all. Please know that there are no questions asked or judgments made in regards to your choice, and I am thrilled that you are here no matter what you pay.

Due to the limitations of the site, your price selection, if different from the posted price, will be accomplished using a coupon code:

  • To pay $60, use KNEES60

  • To pay $45, use KNEES45

If sliding scale pricing is new to you, here is some information that can help you locate yourself on the scale within my website:

  • The posted price point reflects a somewhat higher price than I would charge all participants were there no sliding scale. This is so that folks with ready access to resources have the opportunity to pay more in support of those with fewer financial resources. If you have financial security and little to no debt, own property, investments, and/or personal savings, and spend little time worried about securing necessities in your life, you have economic privilege and power in society. This price may be for you.

  • The middle of the scale is the rate I would select as the “class value” were there no sliding scale, and is for folks that do not find themselves described by the highest or the lowest price sections. If you have a steady income and are not spending a majority of your time thinking about meeting basic needs such as food, housing, healthcare, childcare, etc, but are paying off debt and/or working to build savings, you may belong here.

  • The lower end of the scale exists for those whose economic circumstances would prevent their participation in classes if there were not an option to access services at a cost that aligns with their economic realities. If you struggle to access resources such as food, shelter, health care, child care, and live paycheck to paycheck or with significant debt, this is your rate and you deserve the same opportunity to participate as the person who can pay the highest rate.
